I had a birthday.

Yes, sadly it is true. I had another birthday (last month). I don't like getting older, but a month after my birthday I have come to terms with the fact. So, despite the fact that I am older, I had a really great birthday. The weekend after John, Theresa, Cailin, MJ, and Evan came over and we ate some delicious Taco salad and opened presents.
Notice the clock in the background in this pic.... that is the new clock Sean got me for my birthday!

Elvin (and his family of course) came over the day before my birthday to help me celebrate.

It was SUPPER NICE OF THEM! Kassy made a wonderful cake, a card and flowers and a present.... man o man was I spoiled! After all the festivities we played Balderdash. Fun times!

Oh, and down in Boise a month early we celebrated my brother, sister, and my birthday with my parents. Here is Tess looking 24 (aka pretty).

We had yummy cheese and chocolate fondue for dinner!
Although it was a great birthday, I'm glad it's not going to come again for another year =)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

You gotta love warmish spring days. We had fun getting on our bikes and hitting the trail a few Saturdays back. I knew I was out of shape (I haven't exercised for the last oh I don't know 6 months) but I didn't think I would be that out of shape! We ended up riding 13 miles... which really isn't that much, but I was dead! I guess that just means I need to get out there more =)

What do you say?

Life is something I know I take for granted. Life could be taken from me or someone I love any minute of any day. But I don't think of that very often.

Today at work I was going through my routine. I went out to the waiting room to get the next patient, we'll call him Jim. A little background; I've know Jim for about a year and a half (the amount of time I've been working there). I see him every two months when he comes into our office. I know little about his personal life, but I do know some. I know his wife and how many kids he has... I'm sure I've talked to him about books he reads, holiday traditions, weather etc more than I can remember. What I know most about him is how he is always smiling, happy, polite, and interested in me. Very few patients are this way. They just assume, that this is my job, and that's as deep as our relationship goes. Don't get me wrong, this is ok and probably how it should be... but you know it is nice to connect with some people on a personal level sometimes. I think everyone knows what I mean. So anyway... I'm babbling.

Jim is one of those who always asks questions about me. .... so today I took him back to a exam room and proceeded to "get him ready" for the doctor to come in. I said, "Jim, how are you doing?!"" "well, I've been better" he uncharacteristically replied. Kind of taken back I inquired a little more. He proceeded to tell me that 1 week earlier he had been diagnosed with a certain type of cancer which was untreatable... and the Doctor had said he had less than a year to live.
Bam!!!!!!! I wasn't expecting that, and I didn't know what to say. Trying to hold the tears back I eventually responded by asking more details about the kind of cancer he had, just unimportant things like that. What was I supplest to say. This is a "real" person to me, someone I "know" and love... not just someone I hear about who is dying.

And the day went on... the same menial tasks I do every day. Answering phones, taking x-rays, helping patients... stuff like that. But Jim stayed in my mind.

Life is precious, life is short, life is good. Why do I waste time wishing for what I don't have.

Carpe Diem.

Bangs are Back!

Well, at least for me Bangs are Back!

When I was in Boise a few weeks ago I had my mom cut bangs for me. The first thing she said to me after she cut them was... and I quote, " you look just like you did when you were in 5th grade!"

You be the judge.

Birthday Weekend in Boise

We spent last weekend in Boise! It was a party all weekend... literally. We celebrated mine, Jake, and Tess's Birthdays. We ate like royalty. Crepes, steak, fondue... to say the least. Jake made up some "fun drinks". Mojitos is the real name, i think. (Virgin of course)
Jake el barista.

I really Love this picture, Jake looks like a real cowboy. If only Apallo's head wasn't hidden behind the sagebrush.

Tess and Andrew took us out with the horses. Sean rode a horse for the first time in his life!!! I don't have any pictures, i'll have to get some from my Dad.

My Dad and his "highly obedient" dog. That is a joke by the way =)

Cute miss Clara (and Sean of course)

Trying to keep warm

All in all it was a fun weekend. We played lots of games, I got an injection in my jaw, went to Church... you know all the good stuff. We have and awesome family.

Life is good

Life is good for Sean and I right now. Of course there are challenges and and hardships, but overall life is good!

Sean is crazy and amazing. He is working 40 hours a week with ITS, taking a few classes that total 12 hrs a week, and volunteering 8ish hours a week. So he is busy and doesn't get much sleep. But he does it, and does it without complaining. He's a better person than me =)

Me, I'm still working full time for the Podiatrist here in town. I enjoy the work, (more the clinical side of things than the clerical). I enjoy working with and getting to know the patients. Of course there are some things I could do without, but that how it goes.

In our free time (if Sean isn't sleeping) we have gotten into a "Lost" phase. We didn't watch the last few seasons... so through Hulu we are getting caught up. It's kind of a bad habit, but nice to be detached from the world for a bit. We go down to Lewiston to visit my in laws and often time take advantage of their washer and dryer (=. We hang out with our friends and family here in Moscow. Sean got a card game called, Killer Bunnies for Christmas, that's our new game.

That's pretty much life right now... not much new going on.

So as I said at first. Life is good.

Update

I haven't posted anything for a few weeks, for a few reasons/excuses.

1) We lost our camera, pictures are my crutch. You see when I can post pictures I don't have to write as much, the pictures tell most of the stories. I am not a creative writer, nor am I very confident in my writing. Heck... with out spellcheck the world would thing I was an idiot!

2) My life seems pretty "boring"... in the sense, not much has changed as of late. Now I know this is a lame excuse because I could try to be creative and post about my blessings, my memories, the color of scrubs I wore that day etc. I don't know though... maybe I should though. Document who I am.

3)I'm lazy. I like going around and reading other peoples blogs, but then after 10min of that something/someone else asks for my attention and I procrastinate.

4)I'm selfish. I take the time to read others blogs and stay in tune with their lives and don't take the time to write so they can know what's happin around here.

So.... I should blog more.

For my family, my friends, my posterity, and honestly myself. I used to be faithful... I mean faithful about writing in my journal every single night. It was good for me. I really should pick up the habit again, for many reasons I won't go into detail about right now.

so.... please keep bugging me about posting more... and I'll be better at posting. (you notice I didn't say "I'll try", but I said "I'll" aka I will. This is serious stuff!

Love ya all,
Anna
